Unit Of Inquiry: How We Express Ourselves
Central Idea: We use our bodies to express ourselves
Lines of inquiry:
  • Dance
  • Mime
  • Acrobatics
In our new unit of inquiry this week, we were exploring with lots of materials and props in our classroom and in the the performing art room and how they made us feel. We had loads of fun with dressing up clothes, masks, streamers, musical instruments, listening to music and watching dancing videos. Playing the game of Charade was so much fun!
We read the book and watched the video of 'Going on the bear hunt' and then we enacted it out. We used both movement (using our bodies-UOI) and positional language (math)!
Math

We have been working on positional language this week. We had to use the words left, right, forward, backward, in front of, behind, under, over, next to when playing loads of games. We chose a toy and quizzed each other to place the toy  in the correct position. We blind folded Ms Smita and then Eddie and gave directions to reach to a different part of the classroom. We then programmed our BeeBots to move to the Alphabet mat and also to the mat which we created!
Literacy

In literacy this week we worked on building our vocabulary through word work. We are also working on using expressions when reading and looking at punctuations.
